A first-time collaboration with director, Carlos Coronado , this video has so many things i love - beautiful physical environment, stop-motion animation, and it's a perfect visualization of this song, yet stands alone as an art piece.

I have several music videos in the works by various directors at the moment, and one thing i said to them all when discussing concepts, is that i don't want the videos to reek of restrictions (of our current circumstances). I want these art pieces to be timeless, and am I'm proud to say that i think we might have succeeded here. :)

Thank you so much to FACTOR, Ontario Arts Council & Toronto Arts Council for their support of this project at several stages.

Think about you when the morning strikes
In the evening too
Try to remember all the little things that you had to do

Cause I tried I tried, it’s tough
When you really don’t try hard enough

I wanna be your special
Wanna be your girl
Wrapped around me at the end of the world
I wanna be your wholesome
Wanna be your good
Be complete apart, it’s understood
But I guess I’m just not for you

Yesterday when we took a trip to the forest land
Sunlight streaming through the trees
Won’t you take my hand?

This solo performance took place at a beautiful art space/venue in Tokyo called Rakudoan and I found this phone footage you see here of my only cover song of that concert, "Twice" by Little Dragon (thank you @houses_tokyo for the footage!).

A little back story for you - the evening of the Tokyo concert, i started feeling unwell, but pushed through, and right after the performance, we loaded up the van and drove several hours in the dark to Nagano prefecture to start our search for @Fukue1979. By the time we got to Nagano, I had a pretty serious flu, which lingered for the entire duration of the filming of the documentary. I was on a bunch of medication just to be out of bed, and was basically running on adrenaline to do what needed to be done, and now, 8 million have watched me sick as a dog going through an emotional roller-coaster to be reunited with my friend! Wild!

About the cover song choice - I did an arrangement of "Twice" that my last project The Jessica Stuart Few performed live as a trio, and it was so well loved that i ended up including a magical version on The Jessica Stuart Few's 2016 album, The Passage. Check out the live performance of "Twice" and the incredible animated paper cut-out music video by @kajartstudio and the studio recording of "Twice" below. ♥️

It's a monthly playlist featuring only music by the amazing artists i personally know called JESSA & Friends!

As you might know, I LOVE curating and shining a spotlight on my incredibly talented and often under-celebrated musician friends, which i why pre-pandemic i ran two carefully curated music events every month in Toronto. Since live music is on pause right now, i had sooo much fun listening through my pals new music and putting together the perfect playlist for a 'Chill Indie Evening' to share with you. I hope you'll take a listen and follow the playlist on Spotify or on my YouTube channel since i'll updating with new tunes monthly, and for your interest, i included a short write-up on the tunes at the bottom of the post! xo

1. Merival – “Sinner”
Merival is a Toronto-based songwriter, vocalist and guitarist, and has an incredible vocal timbre that sucks you in and makes you think that she’s telling you a secret. The facility in her vocal range makes for some super cool melodies that sometimes remind me of early Joni Mitchell, and the chords in the guitar part and the string arrangement make this song especially beautiful.

2. Lydia Persaud – “Well Wasted”
I first met Lydia in Toronto as part of amazing acapella threesome The O’Pears, then she made a gorgeous solo album this past year that this song came from. On top of having a rich, gorgeous voice and totally authentic-to-self delivery, Lydia plays ukulele and guitar and makes sweet music that makes me wanna move my body.

3. Päter – “They Love You”
Toronto-based indie singer-songwriter Päter came into my scope through our mutual friend and collaborator Delta Will (who appears a little later on this playlist! p.s. Päter rhymes with ‘later’). Päter describes the project as “tongue-in-cheek tunes for silent resentment” and there’s plenty of lyrics that make me giggle. This tune was the best fit from the new album for a Chill Indie Evening but if you’re looking for indie rock, check the rest of the new album, SOLE.

4. Ro – “Fucked Up Over You”
I met Ro when i was on tour Australia in 2015 – we were both booked as performers at Fairbridge Music Festival in Western Australia. I was there playing with my trio under old project name The Jessica Stuart Few, and she was performing as a solo act. One of her sets took place in an old picturesque church with ridiculous acoustics and that’s when I became a fan. Since then, we shared a couple concert bills elsewhere in Australia and became friends, and now both of us have taken on new indie-pop projects! This song is adorable and Ro delivers it soo very well – if you listen to the other Australian song on the playlist you might start hearing the common thread in Australian indie music!

5. Delta Will – “No Skin No Bones”
Delta Will is an awesome Toronto-based indie project that stands out with its suberb production, songwriting and playing, AND Delta Will main man Charles Tilden happens to be one of my close friends too. Fun fact – we once made a video playing guitars and singing in a bathtub together for a YouTube series i was doing called “Bands In Pajamas”. This song has a wicked groove, and some stand-out guitar licks and lyrics and comes from Multitudes I and has been in high rotation ever since.

6. JESSA – “Not For You”
This is the anomaly song on my brand new album Simple Songs and was written in the moment after realizing that he and I could never make it work despite the massive spark and fire we had. I started the JESSA project to write indie-pop songs that people could sing along to on first listen, but when this one came out of me, even though it isn’t so pop, I knew it needed to be on the album. Producer Devon Henderson and I put this song into a special sonic place, and completed the arrangement with strings to bring out all the feelings. This song is very meaningful to me so i simultaneously hope it does and hope it doesn’t make you cry.

7. Bernice – “Glue”
Bernice is another awesome local artist I’ve crossed paths with many times since moving to Toronto – we shared bills back in the day with other projects, and we’ve played music with a lot of the same people. I super admire this band – somehow they are as weird as they wanna be, yet manage to catch the ears of indie-pop listeners and turn them into superfans. But mainly though, Robyn’s really pure voice and out-of-the-box songwriting paired with the wild tones and timbres of the sonic palette are the reasons to listen.

8. Oh Pep! – “The Race”
Oh Pep! is an Australian duo made up of songwriter/lead vocalist/guitarist Livvy and the extremely talented stringster/vocalist Pepi who plays mandolin and violin (and probably some other instrument i’m forgetting..). I was co-touring with another Australian artist who put on early Oh Pep! on as the soundtrack of our trip in 2014, and then months later Oh Pep! and i ended up connecting by chance and have been fast friends ever since. This song is one of my favorites – such amazing interlocking string parts, killer vocal delivery, great grooves and songwriting. Fun fact – I’ve seen these gals all over the world – off the top of my head we’ve hung all over Australia, Canada and the US, most recently running into Liv in Nashville last summer while working on the new album, and we co-wrote a tune called “Give It Back, It’s Mine” that i recorded in December in Australia and look forward to releasing in the near future!

9. Vivienne Wilder – “Forever for Tonight”
Vivienne Wilder’s voice grabs me from the first phrase here – another multi-instrumentalist based in Toronto (bassist, vocalist, guitarist) who I’ve shared the stage with on dozens of occasions in multiple of our bands. On top of the super expressive vocal delivery and charming song, I’m in love with this song’s dreamy vibe especially as reverb-soaked layers start creeping in for the outro.

10. Sintia – “All Alone”
I met Sintia through the music scene (our projects share a drummer!), and this song is part of a new project for her that I love. It reminds me of French pop groups like Stereolab, and Sintia seems to borrow a lot of chords from jazz but keeps the music really indie-pop and moody in the best way possible. Sintia just put out an incredible music video for a newer song called In Cold Blood that I recommend too. Fun fact: Sintia was a guest on my songwriters music series a year ago which has the brief of each artist “world debuting” a song, and we co-wrote something beautiful that hopefully will be recorded and released soon.

11. Becca Stevens – “Feels Like This”
I’ve only met New York-based multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/vocalist Becca Stevens a few times, but for several years her name came up when multiple fans told me that my music reminded me of hers. Becca is a killer vocalist and player with several fretted string instruments under her belt, and this new album of hers definitely has more of a pop feel than her previous – I love the sonic choices in the song’s opening and the chorus makes me gush, big time. Becca has some very impressive accolades that include playing in David Crosby’s band, and being a part of a bunch of Snarky Puppy recordings, so there’s lots to dig into in her catalogue.

12. Alexander Saint – “The Light”
This is a brand new one from Toronto-based songwriter/vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Alexander Saint and is a call-to-action song – in Alex’s words “This is a song about taking the power back from those who hold it, the constant fight within ourselves and what we perceive as true.” I know Alexander really well from the music scene here, and we’ve actually played in each other’s bands and co-written a bunch of songs that I hope we do something with soon! Alex is one of Toronto’s hidden gems, and this new project is worth digging into including brand new video coming this week.
JESSAtag:jessicastuartmusic.com,2005:Post/64468872020-10-01T10:45:53-04:002024-02-12T07:00:29-05:00"Not For You" Live Solo One-Take Acoustic Vid Out!
Feeling very lucky to work with great people all the time, and producer Michael L.
The song is Airplane Mode from the forthcoming debut album Simple Songs (Sept 11, 2020 release!), and although it might seem like it’s about pining for someone, it's actually about learning how to overcome our own shit, with whatever tricks we need to play on ourselves to do it, and reclaiming our peace of mind.

I hope you're all as well as well can be and finding some joy and happy wherever you can.

I've been looking through the archives since I don't have the steady influx of new vids and pics that playing live used to provide, and found this capture of All I Get Is Wrecked from the October edition of my songwriters' music monthly at the TRANZAC Club, courtesy of videographer Eugene Beck.

All I Get Is Wrecked is a co-write with my friend and producer Robyn Dell'Unto, and although this performance isn't perfect, there was a really cool vibe which even led to the audience singing back-ups for me in the choruses! This song is part of forthcoming JESSA album "Simple Songs", coming in September, so keep your eyes peeled for it!

So this JUST went live - please watch, comment, like, share, AND if you feel like comparing the live solo version to the recording (where i played one million layers of guitars and mandolins), then i've plunked the lyric video below too, just for fun. Love y'all. Thank you always. <3

A lot has happened since I last posted, some of which has been a shared experience between us all (at 2 meters distance..). It's hard to wrap my head around doing promotion for a single right now, since there are global and local issues that require our attention, but then a confidante pointed out to me that it's also more important than ever to have positivity and healthy ways to escape the inevitable thoughts/feelings, and you know what? I think they're right, and goshdarnit, this song is a bop! (Well, that's someone commented hearing the sneak peek i posted on instagram, hehe) So what I'm saying is, some of us might need to get our dance on, and Crazy Love is perfect for that! :) .

I have turned a few shades darker (and redder in some areas) despite copious sunscreen applications, and to be honest have not yet got my footing from jetlag, but I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing my Aussie friends and fans and am a little late on the draw to announce these shows to you, so if you're in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne or Geelong, please help me spread the word by telling your local live music loving folks. <3

Really, really amazing. Still in shock over how much interest there has been about this and am very thankful for your well wishes and and loving vibes. :)

Here's another video explaining some more stuff about the film and beyond. And by the way, the song that plays in the 'Finding Fukue' credits is now mixed, almost mastered and will be released in the next week or two! It sounds so great - amazing mix by my friend Ryan Granville-Martin (who also played drums on it). K, enjoy:

The film was made by Loud Roar Productions in conjunction with CBC Docs, and I was responsible for the musical score as well as being the subject of the film. We went to Nagano prefecture in the spring to search for my long-lost childhood friend, Fukue and it was quite the journey. To be honest it feels both weird and liberating to have this very personal experience on show to the world. Many viewers have written to me already telling me that they cried when they watched, and that makes me feel better about the large amount of the film that I also am in tears.

So, I hope you will watch the film if you feel so inclined, and share, and comment. Empathy is more important than ever in this quickly changing world we live in - I hope this film makes you feel something, and think about the people you love, both those you've lost, those still in your life and those who've fallen out of touch. xoxoxo

More Japan News..
Firstly, I want to thank you all so much for the overwhelming response to the announcement I made the other day about the upcoming CBC documentary shoot in Japan.
TWO weeks today, I will be flying to Japan to film a CBC documentary in which we will try to find my closest friend from the year I lived in Nagano prefecture as a child. This friend, Fukue was not from a family of means, and I stopped hearing from her abruptly a few years after I returned to Vancouver - the question of what happened to her has never left my thoughts. (The song "Lost Friends" on The JSFew's last album The Passage is about Fukue, written years before there was an inkling of actually being able to go on this trip)

Film company Loud Roar Productions caught wind of this story totally by chance, became intrigued by it, and pitched it to CBC, for which I am beyond grateful. I am also extremely excited to be music director of the film, and create new pieces as scoring and write songs to punctuate whatever the results of our mission may be.

Fukue & I up to something crafty or homeworky at my family's apartment in Saku City (note my mom's koto against the wall in the background!)

AND that, my friends, is the news. I will likely perform while I'm in Tokyo (details TBD!), and do a performance and workshop at a junior high school in Saku City, and will keep you guys posted. These will be solo performances.

Thanks for reading my news, and feel free to leave comments below - I am incredibly overwhelmed by the possible outcomes of this trip, and you will see it all by the fall when the documentary goes live on CBC.
xoxox
jessica
JESSAtag:jessicastuartmusic.com,2005:Post/51762032018-04-11T14:43:31-04:002023-12-10T11:55:34-05:00What An Honour!
Although I wouldn't swap it for any other profession, there's a dirty underbelly of rejection and unpleasantness in between most apparent victories as a musician, especially when pursuing an original music career. So when I woke up last week to an incredibly complimentary and unprompted post by local legend Derek Downham, it made my week, and I thought i should share it with you.
Hope to see the Toronto faction at Episode 2 of 'Jessica Stuart presents', this Thursday, March 22nd from 5-7:15pm at the Tranzac Club (292 Brunswick Ave.). I'll be joined by vibraphonist Michael Davidson for some song debuts, and re-imaginings of recent tunes, and the opening set will be the incomparable Alex St. Kitts in duo form (w/drummer Jacob Aylward) playing tunes from his recent releases Projektor II & III and likely a premiere of something we've never heard. All ages, Southern Cross room (front, right), pwyc, all good vibes listening room.

BUT some big news - two of my songs have advanced to the semi-finals of the 2018 Canadian Songwriting Competition! This is two years running that I've had multiples make it through, and who knows, maybe I'll take the prize this year. (Teehee, fingers crossed!) Listen to one of the nominees, "Without You" below, featuring Elizabeth Shepherd on Rhodes and sharing the lead vocals:

This week I launch my first Toronto concert series at the amazing sounding Southern Cross room at The Tranzac! I'm calling it 'Jessica Stuart presents' and every month I'll be debuting some new music, and trying collaborative things with different players and different instrumentation than usual, while booking a killer original act to join the bill and do the same. Jessica Stuart presents: Episode 1 will feature my good pal Delta Will 's Chamber Folk Experience, and he will make the odd time slot (5-7pm!) well worth the trip. :)

The details:

When: Thursday, February 22nd, 5-7pm
Where: The Tranzac Club, Southern Cross room (292 Brunswick Ave, The Annex, Toronto, Canada)
What: 2 sets, Delta Will Chamber Folk Experience & Jessica Stuart, song debuts, good vibes, no cover, just a generosity jug :)

It's been too long! But big things have been happening in the real world, outside of the land of the internet, and so the blog has been collecting dust, and I do apologize for keeping you in the dark. A bunch of what I've been up to involves new music I've written that reaches in new directions (which I'm SO excited about!), and other cool stuff like singing with The Element Choir backing up Tanya Tagaq for an NFB documentary, recording Wayne's World-esque guitar for the soundtrack of indie film Erin's Guide To Kissing Girls and getting acquainted with a new awesome koto, gifted to me very unexpectedly last month!

It looks like the last time I wrote an update, we were about to play our Toronto Jazz Festival show in the end of June. Since then, I've been to BC and back, written a half a dozen tunes, and possibly, the most exciting news is that the epic stop-motion music video I've been working on with KAJART for Same Girl is finally done! It's be released very very soon, so keep your eyes peeled for the full vid (and keep them wide open to catch the over 3000 photographs that we took to make it!).

BUT in the meantime, here's a teaser - all of it was shot in Toronto, and we can't wait to try to track down the street artists whose pieces are featured in the video!

SOOOO, the other super cool news is that The Jessica Stuart Few is headlining the massive Japan Festival Canada 2017! The fest happens all weekend long in Mississauga's Celebration Square, and is free, and has tons of music, dance, Japanese food and I hear they're even giving away tickets to Japan! We play Saturday, August 26th at 8pm, and really hope to see you and your friends and family there! They said that they're expecting 70,000 people (wow!) and Steven Foster, Carlie Howell and I cannot wait to serenade them all.

Here's a little promo video/interview they had me do for the festival:

Wanted to let you know that we're playing a free concert at the Toronto Jazz Festival this Thursday, June 29th (6:30-7:45pm) at the Yorkville Laneway stage! This is one of our only shows this summer in Toronto, so hope you'll join Liam Smith, Tony Nesbitt-Larking and I, should your geography and schedules allow. We're very honoured to be a part of the Jazz Fest almost every year, and love these new concert stages in Yorkville where many of our friends are also performing. Even if you can't make it to ours, try to catch some of the action, while it's on.

Let's talk about what's upcoming for The JSFew:

RONCY ROCKS main stage, Saturday, June 17th, 2pm, free!

Taste of Italy Festival, College Street, Sunday, June 18th. I'm playing on a killer bill at JUNE Records at 1:30pm (solo set!)

And, excited to be playing the Toronto Jazz Fest again on June 29th - details to follow. Western Canadian friends - news for you too... keep checkin' in, please!

Our epic 'Same Girl' music vid is still in production (stop-motion is so time consuming, but soooo worth it), so we're shooting 1-2 days most weekends, and I'm having a fun time playing as a side-gal in a bunch of projects with cool things coming up (i.e. Idioteque - OK Computer 20th Anniversary, Civil Wray CD Release Tour - Eastern Canada & hitting a stride with incredible singer/songwriter Lizzie Lyon), so do keep your eyes peeled!

More behind the scenes with KAJART shooting our epic music vid for 'Same Girl'.

K - keep checking in, loves, and have an amazing weekend!
xo
jessica
JESSAtag:jessicastuartmusic.com,2005:Post/47096142017-05-15T16:27:35-04:002023-12-10T11:47:07-05:00Music Video Shoot bts & Canadian Songwriting Contest Winner's announcement!I don't know about you, but I always get really excited about larger scale creative projects. Take for instance, this super elaborate stop-motion video I'm doing with KAJART for the song "Same Girl" from our latest album - I think we've done between 35-40 hours of shooting so far, and have another 50 at least to go! BUT, the technique we're doing is so cool that it's absolutely worth it. And I've never shied away from a challenge before! (Remember our very first music video for "Kid Dream" which was made up of 2800 drawings by 80 people? Yup. Kinda my MO.) Needless to say, my legs are getting quite the workout while standing perfectly still in various squats on a skateboard.. (scroll to the bottom of the post for pics!)

BUT here's the big news of the day! The Canadian Songwriting Competition announced it's winners, and although my song "Shame On You" did not win the big prize, it did get an honourable mention from among the finalists and that's huge! (Woot woot!) I've been told time and time again by Canadian media that I do not fit in the box when it comes to musical genre, and to be honest, it's put me out of contention for the major canadian music prizes that acknowledge the work of my deserving contemporaries. The problem is that JUNO awards, for instance, are separated in genre-based categories, and my latest album just doesn't really belong in any of them neatly. As expressed by a JUNO juror after he heard the band perform at a music conference in 2014, "Well, you're not really Rock, and you're not really Jazz, and you wouldn't fit in Adult Alternative or Roots. But they were talking about making a category called 'Out Of The Box', and you'd fit there." Me: "Oh really? Will that category be starting next year?" Him: "Nah, I don't think so." SO, unfortunately, this leaves me and other less categorizable creators unacknowledgable in these situations, which is why an Honourable Mention in the Canadian Songwriting Competition makes me very happy. Thank you CSC for the shout out - I really appreciate it! And a huge congrats to my pal Elizabeth Shepherd whose classic track "Seven Bucks" won the title. Elizabeth was a part of The Passage actually - contributing Rhodes to a few tunes and joining me on lead vocals on "Without You". Listen to Elizabeth & I HERE

Here's the main gist of it:

Music Video Production for "Same Girl" Has Begun! The amazing folks at KAJART and I started shooting what will likely be our most elaborate video ever! It's stop motion, but a particular technique I've never seen before, and just to give you an idea about how much time it really takes - our second day of shoot took 11 or so hours, shooting in 90 locations (yes, 90!), and we came out with 13 seconds of footage. YUP. that's a labour of love. Shoot days #3, #4, #5 happen this weekend! Listen to "Same Girl" HERE

"Shame On You" a Finalist in the Canadian Songwriting Competition! A couple posts ago I was super excited to find out that three of my songs from the latest album, The Passage made it to the semi-finals, and now I'm in the finals! I don't know when the results will be announced, but either way, it's a honour to be recognized for my writing, and alongside a bunch of great songwriters/composers (many of whom are friends of mine!). Listen to "Shame On You" HERE

Live in Toronto! As you know, we haven't been playing locally that often BUT, we've got some cool stuff coming up in the next month or two that you should know about: Wed, May 24 @ Castro's Lounge - intimate 2 set gig in The Beaches, 9-11pm, pwyc. Or if you're a foodie, we're performing at the Ontario Culinary Festival at Ontario Place on Mon, May 22 from noon-1pm, and it's free and all ages. AND, very excited to have been invited back to the Toronto Jazz Festival next month - details to follow. :)

Tons of artists from out of town arriving in Toronto right now, and some of my favourite locals will be playing their latest around the city. There will be parties, and lots of panels and conference-y stuff during the days, AND me & my bandmates Liam Smith and Steve Foster get to play together for the first time since our China tour! Our showcase is this Friday, April 21st at Supermarket on Augusta Ave in Kensington Market and it's the first JSFew show in Toronto in 6 months (holy crow, yup it is), so if you missed our last, better get your little tush to this one!

CMW and NXNE aren't known for their perfect bill pairings, but I was hugely impressed with our Friday night line-up: soulful singer-songwriter, Chad Price, a groovy Irish band called BARQ and The JSFew. It's an early gig, 8-11pm and we're on last at 10pm, so see you there?

Here's a little trip down memory lane, photo by Robert Saxe from CMW 2013 (with bandmates Tony Nesbitt-Larking & Dan Fortin):

I plan to go to a bizillion shows (k, maybe some exaggeration there..), and giving my show reviews also, so if you want to know what's good, I recommend keeping in touch on instagram, as it's my main poison ( @thejessicastuartfew).

See you round town!
xo
jessicaJESSAtag:jessicastuartmusic.com,2005:Post/46656112017-04-10T16:39:35-04:002022-03-24T18:39:36-04:00Canadian Songwriting Competition Semi-Finals!SO, this past week has been a bit of a thrill - aside from crossing "climb the CN Tower" off my bucket list, I found out that 3 of my songs made it to the semi-finals of the Canadian Songwriting Competition! Something particularly cool about the 3 songs that made it through, is that in Canada, my music is often not considered "mainstream" enough to be heard anywhere but campus/community radio or CBC Radio 1 (and geez, do I love CBC and campus radio!), although it certainly doesn't have the same problem in other countries we tour to. (For instance, did you know that our last album's single, <a contents=""Don't Ya"" data-link-label="" data-link-type="url" href="https://youtu.be/2oosbG6Vi7M">"Don't Ya" made to the Top 40 charts in Japan in 2013? Of the semi-finals selected songs, one of them, "Same Girl" was chosen in the Pop category, so that's a victory for me! The other two were in the Jazz/Soul category, which is also great, because of the amazing company my songs get to keep there (alongside Elizabeth Shepherd, Myriad3, Amanda Tosoff etc).

Anyhow, do you wanna hear those songs?

1. Pop semi-finalist, Same Girl
2. Jazz/Soul semi-finalist, Passage, and we made a video for it that came out a few months ago, so I'll post that at the end.

Winners announced next month!

LAST NEWS for the moment - you might have noticed that we play more outside the country than we do in Toronto these days, so our local shows are Few and far between (oops! Totally unintentional capitalizing of 'Few', but i'll leave it be..), SO we are super stoked to be playing Canadian Music Week for the manyth time, but have an awesome slot on Friday, April 21st at 10pm at Supermarket with some great co-bills, Chad Price and BARQ (nice work, CMW! These festivals are not known for the cohesion in their line-ups, but totally nailed it this time!). SO, whoever's gonna be in Toronto, we hope to see you then.

Enjoy the vid, like/share/comment liberally, and thanks for reading, lovelies. xo

JESSAtag:jessicastuartmusic.com,2005:Post/46470882017-03-27T12:49:44-04:002023-12-10T13:21:10-05:00Hello again!Hey friends and music lovers. It's been a while! Since I last wrote, we had one of my favourite tours to date in China to release our new album, The Passage, and I've been taking some time to stockpile a bunch of new ideas for the next phase of my writing, and spending lots of time on other groups I play with that I love.

Anyhow, there's lots to tell you, (and I do plan on filling you in with tales, photos and videos from China), but let's start by properly sharing our latest music video for "Twice", which was released while we were in China, and made it's rounds through facebook, but never really got the love it deserves yet on YouTube and around the web. "Deserves?" you might ask? Well, this video is an awesome piece of art brought to life by Kajart - entirely made from paper cut-outs in a stop-motion animation style and time consuming labour of love! (Stop-motion for those unfamiliar is when you use still photographs to capture miniscule movements in a scene, so that when the photos are shown in sequence that the objects in the scene appear to be moving - in this case, 24 photos per second!) The song in the video is my koto rendition of a Little Dragon tune, which has it's own beautiful shadow puppetry music vid, and I had the idea that in the same way that I covered their song with different instrumentation/style, that we could also do a "cover" version of their music video in a different medium. (Read Chart Attack's coverage of our music video release HERE)

SO, with no further ado, please share, comment and "like" if you feel it. I wanted you to see it first here - it's our brand new music video for another song off the new album, The Passage for the title song and album's final track, "Passage". This vid was shot at a cottage on two phones last summer, then we did an actual camera session last month for some more footage. The inspiring folks at Kajart are responsible for the video editing, and I just thought they made it such a perfect match for the song. Let us know what you think, and feel free to pass it around! xo

The Passage CD Release Tour Dates - ON/QC
